Please support me! Larapinta Trail – 1Million Women
It’s my birthday this weekend! (And I’d love if you could please donate to this fundraiser!)
To celebrate this year (in just over a week’s time) I’m going to journey to heart of Australia with a group of inspiring women who are deeply passionate about the sustainability of our Built Environment, and the regeneration of our Natural Environment…and living in harmony with our earth.
The 20 of us will spend 5 days trekking the Larapinta Trail, immersed in the rich history of Australia’s First Peoples, as part of a fundraiser for 1 Million Women (1MW). We will follow well-worn, red dirt tracks along the slopes of the West MacDonnell Ranges, beside winding riverbanks, across open plains, up towering mountains and down into shaded gorges. Past Ormiston Gorge and climbing to the top of majestic Mount Sonder for sunrise, we’ll conquer one of the world’s premier desert treks, through scenic and historic landscapes made famous by Albert Namatjira’s paintings.
(Or see this article for some stunning photography of the region!)

It is an incredible opportunity to connect with Earth, with 1MW founder, Natalie Isaacs and with other women as we talk about this defining decade for climate action and how the love of Earth is key to transforming our lives. At night, we will camp under black skies filled with silver stars, and fall asleep to the nocturnal sounds of the desert knowing we’re part of a global movement of women taking action against climate change.
As well as being an incredible opportunity to connect with other women whilst reconnecting to this incredible country we have the honour and privilege to live on this is a fundraising excise towards 1 Million Women’s mission of Creating momentum on vital action on Climate change mitigation, which of course is very much our shared passion!
We will be doing everything we can to engage as many women as we can. The money raised goes towards their incredible advocacy work.
My fundraising goal is $3500, and I’m 70% of the way there…can you please help me get to 100% before I depart?
I’d be so very grateful if you could support me in this venture!
I’m really looking forward to this opportunity to re-set, to switch off from daily life and un-plug (no-wifi or phone reception!), to stop and listen, to walk and talk and reflect. To connect to country. To just be. To feel a part of this earth, not apart from it. Walking in nature and observing the sights, sounds, smells, textures & tastes is when I feel most at ease, sharing the joy of those small moments, and feeling the wonder of this beautiful planet we call home. I don’t want to set expectations too high, but I sense that after the past few years that this “pause” is exactly what I need to tune into my soul-alignment and to trust the path ahead. I’m looking forward to sharing my stories when I return…
We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love… and then we return home. (Australian Aboriginal saying)
P.S. Important to note: We pay for the trek/accomodation/food/flights ourselves for the trip, and the donations ALL go to “1 Million Women”.
P.P.S. I’ll be away from 20th August until the 2nd September 2022. My amazing team at Talina Edwards Architecture will still contactable during my absence on 0491 241 181 or studio@talinaedwards.com.au
